One of the most spectacular sunsets you’ll ever see is from the top of Table Mountain.
After a winter break (during which we headed to the warm sub-tropical waters of Mozambique for #SurfTrip33) we returned with summer to our beloved Garden Route, to start #SurfTrip34 on Africa’s Southern most tip!
While we work many other excursions and day-trips into our program, surfing will always be at the center of what we do.
We started #SurfTrip34 with a drive-through of the spectacular Cape Peninsula enjoying some of nature’s most breathtaking views…
The Cape of Good Hope, at Cape Point, historical points of interest don’t get much more spectacular than this.
We then headed into the Hemel-en-Aarde Vallei (Valley of Heaven and Earth) to sample some local wines, before cruising into the semi-secluded Garden Route and the magic of Buffels Bay.
Wine tasting at a family-owned traditional wine farm in the Heaven and Earth Valley, a wine tasting experience doesn’t get much more authentic than that.
And Buffels never disappoints us! We scored some fantastic surf, perfect for learning, progressing into the line-up, and ultimately ripping! Buffels really is a surfer’s dream come true!
Cruising the Buffels line-up, there are several different spots to choose from, all within walking distance from one another and all suitable for different levels of surfing.
We also combined our daily surfing with several excursions and explored all the best adventures the Garden Route has to offer.
Paragliding is one of the cleanest and most fun filled ways to experience an adrenaline rush while also appreciating the incredible beauty of the Garden Route.
And no Garden Route Surf Trip with Unravel Surf Travel would be complete without visiting The Surfer Kids, a non-profit outreach initiative empowering some of the poorest and most marginalized local children through surfing. Guests on #SurfTrip34 had the unique opportunity to assist The Surfer Kids’ Surf Instructors with a day of surf coaching and fun!
A day with The Surfer Kids NPO is fun, but is also serves as a healthy reminder of the reality of life for millions of people living in this beautiful country, and at the same time it’s a great way to support an initiative that works tirelessly to make a positive difference in the lives of those who need it most.
As an optional extra we also always offer daily Yoga practice with a qualified instructor on all our Surf Trips, to help relieve tired muscles and focus the mind on enjoying every moment.
Yoga forms a natural part of our Surf Trips and ultimately feeds back into our surfing by allowing us to spend more time in the water!
#SurfTrip34 was an awesome experience and we said goodbye to another super-stoked and surfed-out group of happy clients!
