Who This Is For

The Circular Economy Believer – You’re done debating medium of exchange vs. store of value. You want to pay for your travels in Bitcoin, spend sats at stores, restaurants and community NGOs building financial sovereignty.

The Bitcoin Networker – Forge high-signal connections with like-minded travelers. Whether you missed Adopting Cape Town conference or want the real-world extension to a previously attended conference. This is where Twitter handles become travel friends.

The Adventure Purist – You demand more than a hotel conference room. You want to track wildlife at sunrise, surf the Indian Ocean by midday, and debate monetary policy under the stars.

The Change Maker – You travel to make an impact, not just memories. You understand that spending sats in these communities directly funds financial sovereignty — supporting township merchants, grassroots NGOs like The Surfer Kids, and families building futures outside the fiat system. You vote with your wallet, and every transaction accelerates the revolution.

The Focus
More than a tour, this is a Tribe of 21 sharing wipeouts, Lightning transactions, and late-night rabbit holes over epic dinners—creating the kind of high-signal bonds that outlast any conference panel and turn travel companions into lifelong allies in the fight for financial sovereignty.

Approximate Program*

* This is a flexible indication, to give you an idea of what the possibilities are. The final program will depend on surfing conditions and your choice of extra excursions .

Day 1

Cape Town & Table Mountain

Arrive in Cape Town, where the Atlantic meets the sky beneath the flat-topped silhouette of Table Mountain— one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature. Meet your Tribe of 21 beneath this granite giant, uniting Bitcoiners from across the globe at the edge of Africa.

Watch the sunset from 1,085 meters up, the city lights flickering to life below as your tribe gathers for the first of many shared moments.

Dinner at one of the vibrant restaurants.

Day 2

Bitcoin Loxion – Township Circular Economy

Journey to Khayelitsha, one of South Africa’s largest townships, where Bitcoin Loxion is proving that financial sovereignty starts at the grassroots.

Walk the Bitcoin Loxion Round Trip: visit the Khayelitsha Hub where locals learn Lightning Network basics, see the Wall of Curiosity celebrating community creativity, and tour Igadi Yethemba (Garden of Hope) — a community garden growing its own produce.

Spend sats at a local spaza shop or township coffee roaster.

Transfer to the V&A Waterfront for a sunset champagne cruise as the Atlantic turns gold.

Dinner with the tribe caps a day of stark contrasts — from Khayelitsha’s grassroots township streets to the gleaming luxury of the harbor.

Day 3

Cape of Good Hope & Penguins

Journey to the Cape of Good Hope, the legendary “Cape of Storms” and symbol of maritime exploration where the Atlantic’s fury meets granite cliffs. This iconic headland marked the pivot point of history — where Portuguese sailors first rounded Africa to reach Asia, opening the spice routes while risking the treacherous waters that wrecked hundreds of ships against these cliffs.

We will continue to Boulders Beach, nestled between the Cape and Simon’s Town. Walk the boardwalks among a thriving colony of over 1,000 rare African penguins — watching these comical birds waddle between ancient granite boulders and swim in turquoise waters.

Evening: Return to Cape Town for dinner with the tribe.

Day 4

The Whale Coast – Bitcoin Witsand

We will travel East  from Cape Town to Witsand, a tranquil village where the Breede River meets the Indian Ocean. Home to world famous Bitcoin circular economy. Also known as South Africa’s “Whale Nursery,” this hidden gem offers pristine beaches where southern right whales calve in the turquoise shallows (June – November).

If the giants are in, we head out on a whale watching boat trip to witness mothers and calves up close. Otherwise, cruise the river estuary or explore the wild, windswept coastline. Visit Bitcoin Witsand, meeting local merchants running the circular economy, then settle in for an evening where dinner and accommodation are paid entirely in BTC — your first full night living on Bitcoin in the Garden Route.

Day 5

Mossel Bay

We will point the bus East and travel for 2 hours and roll into Mossel Bay—the very spot where Bartolomeu Dias first planted European boots on South African soil in 1488. This historic coastal town becomes home base for the next 5 days, your command center for exploring the Garden Route’s circular economies.

Shake off the drive with a saltwater reset. Your personal surf coach has boards ready at the beach — whether you’re hunting fast rideas or just trying to stand up without face-planting, the Indian Ocean delivers.

Post up at The Surfer Kids HQ for a proper braai under the stars. Fire roaring, meat sizzling, tribe gathered close. This is where the magic starts: fireside debates on financial inclusion, monetary philosophy, and the Bitcoin revolution that hits different when you’re full of grilled lamb and surf stoke.

Day 6

Bitcoin Ekasi – Township Circular Economy

Spend the day immersed in Bitcoin Ekasi, the groundbreaking extension of The Surfer Kids NPO. Since 2010, this donation-based organization has empowered township youth through surfing; now they’re building financial sovereignty by paying all staff salaries 100% in Bitcoin and onboarding merchants so coaches can live entirely on sats.

Walk the vibrant streets: visit the Bitcoin Ekasi Center, the center for  Bitcoin education in the community, marvel at the painted shacks, stop by TM Ndanda Primary School, and shop at spaza stores and the thrift store—paying for airtime, produce, and goods with Lightning.

Shake off the intensity with a surf session alongside The Surfer Kids — share waves with the youth you’ve just supported, processing the day’s proof-of-work while the sun hangs low over the Indian Ocean.

Evening: Dinner in town at a local restaurant where the bill settles in sats, keeping the circular economy vibes flowing as you feast with the tribe.

Day 7

Wildlife & Adrenaline

No South Africa journey is complete without the bush. Head out for a 3-hour open-vehicle safari with you tribe of 21, tracking wildlife through the nature reserve — think giraffe, zebra, rhinos, elephants and antelope against the fynbos backdrop, cameras at the ready.

Lunch  at the Nature reserve to swap stories and compare sightings with the tribe.

Afternoon: Choose your adventure. Surf the bay with your coach for one more session, or zipline over the ocean—launching from cliffs to soar across the Indian Ocean on the world’s longest over-water zip line.

Evening: Dinner together, trading tales of wildlife encounters and gravity-defying thrills.

Day 8

The Tribe Takes Plett & Sedgefield

The crew rolls east together to Plettenberg Bay, first tackling the Robberg Nature Reserve tackling the cliff side trails with the Indian Ocean crashing below—an easy, breathtaking walk along one of South Africa’s most dramatic coastlines.

Lunch together at Bitcoin Plett’s community hub, connecting with the local btc community.

Then hit the market as a squad—this is where it gets real. Split up and spend sats everywhere: grab a fresh haircut at the barber who just started accepting Lightning, buy handcrafted goods, or team up to onboard a curious merchant who’s been watching the circular economy grow. Bring the movement to life.

Dinner in Sedgefield with the tribe at another grassroots circular economy hub, reflecting on the day’s adventures.

Day 9

Caves, Karoo & Mountain Passes

Leave the coast behind and head inland to Oudtshoorn, the ostrich capital of the world, nestled in the Klein Karoo. Descend into the Cango Caves — a 20-million-year-old limestone cathedral carved by time, where the tribe can marvel at ancient stalactites and echo chambers deep underground.

Midday: Roll into De Rust, a charming Karoo village, for lunch at the local Bitcoin project. Meet the merchants bringing sound money to the semi-desert, spending sats on Karoo lamb and local hospitality.

The way home is via scenic mountain passes — winding through the Swartberg or Outeniqua ranges, with dramatic drops and panoramic views that remind you why road trips with the tribe hit different. Watch the landscape shift from arid Karoo back to lush coastal fynbos as you descend toward the Indian Ocean.

The tribe of 21 gathers for the final dinner together — trading stories from nine days on the road, cementing new friendships, and reflecting on the tangible impact of supporting these grassroots Bitcoin projects. An opportunity to reflect, plant seeds for future collaborations, and maybe even plot the next circular economies you’ll build together.

Day 10

Farewell to the Tribe

Enjoy a leisurely morning in Mossel Bay — take a final walk along the coast, squeeze in a run, or grab last-minute essentials at the supermarket paying in sats, one final real-world transaction to cap off the trip.

Check out and transfer to George Airport (GRJ).
